About The Position

This position ensures patients receive care that aligns with organizational values of providing exceptional healthcare services to every patient, every time. The Pharmacy Technician performs dispensing and billing functions in the unit-dose drug distribution program, ensuring unit-dose carts are accurately filled from current patient profiles and medications and controlled substances are promptly and accurately delivered to hospital inpatient units. They also maintain original orders, appropriate records, and inventories as required. Additionally, the technician performs dispensing functions in the centralized intravenous admixture program, promptly delivering admixtures to appropriate nursing units. They accurately and efficiently deliver floor stock medications to and from inpatient units, ensuring accurate charging and crediting for medications used, and maintaining appropriate records. Monthly floor stock reports are generated for specific nursing units and prepared promptly to complete monthly financial reports. Effective communication with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, other technicians, hospital personnel, and patients is crucial for rational drug therapy. The role also involves maintaining a neat, clean, orderly, and well-stocked work area in various pharmacy sections and performing other duties as assigned.

  • Performs dispensing and billing functions in the unit-dose drug distribution program.
  • Accurately files unit-dose carts from current patient profiles.
  • Promptly and accurately delivers medications and controlled substances to hospital inpatient units.
  • Accurately files original orders and maintains appropriate records and inventories.
  • Performs dispensing functions in the centralized intravenous admixture program.
  • Promptly delivers admixtures to the appropriate nursing units.
  • Accurately and efficiently delivers floor stock medications to and from inpatient units.
  • Accurately charges and credits inpatient units for floor stock medications used.
  • Maintains and files appropriate records of charges and credits.
  • Generates monthly floor stock reports for specific nursing units.
  • Prepares floor stock reports accurately and promptly to complete monthly financial reports.
  • Effectively communicates with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, other technicians, hospital personnel, and patients.
  • Maintains a neat, clean, orderly and well stocked work area in the unit-dose, intravenous admixture floor stock and outpatient pharmacy areas.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
