About The Position

Shriners Children’s is seeking a part-time Pharmacy Technician (24 hours per week) to join their team. The shifts will be Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician will assist in various activities and duties of the pharmacy department that do not require professional judgment. These duties will be performed in strict accordance with the pharmacy department's standards, written procedures, and guidelines.

Requirements

• HS diploma/GED
• 1 year of hospital pharmacy experience
• Pharmacy Technician license in state of practice

Responsibilities

• Assists pharmacist in daily operations of the pharmacy, providing pharmaceutical care to include distribution of medication, unit dose pre-packaging, cart-fill and delivery of medications, handling phone calls/orders, removal of out of date medications.
• Carries out calculations required for the usual dosage determinations and solution preparation, using weight and volume equivalents in the metric systems.
• Distributes medication to patient care areas and is responsible for maintaining medication in these areas including inventory and restocking.
• Performs aseptic compounding of sterile dosage forms. This includes practice of aseptic technique, proper procedure for preparing certain types of parenteral admixtures, preparation of the label and any control records, and documentation of quality control.
