About The Position

Corewell Health Farmington Hills Hospital is a 305-bed teaching facility with Level II trauma status. The Pharmacy Technician fills medication orders, supports pharmaceutical manufacturing and inventory activities, distributes medications, and performs pharmacy record-keeping and customer-service functions. The technician may rotate among hospital and outpatient pharmacy service areas. The position follows clean room (797) guidelines when preparing intravenous admixtures. It is a full-time role with a rotating shift, 40 scheduled hours per week, variable workdays, and every-other-weekend work.

Requirements

• High school diploma program or GED.
• Experience with sterile compounding, or six months of technician experience, or graduation from an ASHP-accredited technician training program.

Nice To Haves

• Pharmacy Technician license from the State of Michigan required upon hire.
• Pharmacist Intern license from the State of Michigan required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Fill medication orders, including oral, injectable, and topical medications and intravenous admixtures.
• Assist in the bulk manufacturing of special pharmaceutical products.
• Prepare and distribute floor stock items in response to requisition forms.
• Inventory and restock shelves in the immediate work area and check for outdated drugs.
• Enter charges and credits into the computer for medications and IV admixtures dispensed by the Pharmacy, and document medications and IV solutions returned to the Pharmacy.
• Distribute prepared medications to patient care areas and other hospital departments.
• Perform necessary record-keeping functions.
• Answer the telephone and assist at the Pharmacy window.
• Rotate within hospital and outpatient pharmacy service areas as required.
• Maintain a safe, orderly work area.
• Follow clean room (797) guidelines when preparing intravenous admixtures.
