About The Position

Johnson Memorial Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to assist pharmacists in various tasks related to pharmaceutical preparation and distribution. This role involves filling medication orders, preparing labels, data entry, managing controlled substances, and refilling automated dispensing devices. The technician will also assist with IV preparation and delivery, maintain department records, and perform inventory technician duties as needed. The position requires a commitment to professional growth and adherence to all applicable laws, regulations, and hospital policies. The Pharmacy Technician will clearly communicate and support the Mission and Values of Johnson Memorial Health, ensuring all activities comply with safety and infection control standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED required.
  • Must maintain a current Indiana pharmacy technician license; or
  • Must be a student at an approved college of pharmacy with a current Pharmacy Intern License; or
  • Absent 1 or 2 above, may enter JMH's Indiana State Board of Pharmacy approved training program as a Pharmacy Technician-in-training with Pharmacy Tech-in-Training Certification to be obtained within 30 days and Pharmacy Tech License to be obtained within 12 months of entering the program.

Responsibilities

  • Assists pharmacists in the preparation of pharmaceuticals including but not limited to filling medication orders, filling medication carts, preparing labels and data entry.
  • Counts, packages, and labels medication orders for inspection by a pharmacist.
  • Ensures secure storage of controlled substances on a regular basis.
  • Complies with established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, performance improvement programs, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
  • Refills automated dispensing devices.
  • Assists with the preparation and delivery of IV’s.
  • Maintains department records, reports, and files as required by law and JMH policy.
  • Performs duties of the inventory technician when required.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, in-services, committee meetings, and workshops.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Performs back-up tape changes for the IS department when required.
  • Clearly communicates and continuously supports the Mission and Values of Johnson Memorial Health.
  • Conducts all activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and Johnson Memorial Health policies and procedures including Blood and Body Substance Precautions.
