About The Position

Wegmans is hiring a part-time Pharmacy Technician at its Rochester, New York location. Pharmacy technicians help build customer trust by providing high-quality service and supporting customers’ medical care and health needs in a fast-paced pharmacy. The role is available for afternoon and evening shifts, including weekends. The technician enters prescription information, performs dosage calculations and conversions, helps resolve rejected insurance claims, and handles medications according to department procedures. The role requires careful attention to patient safety, regulatory standards, company policies, and HIPAA confidentiality requirements. Some states require national technician certification and/or state registration; Wegmans may hire candidates before they obtain these qualifications and will support them through the process. Certified pharmacy technicians may earn additional compensation depending on location.

Requirements

Must be 18 years or older.
Proficient computer and data entry skills.
Basic math skills, including unit conversions, to perform dosage calculations and determine day supply accurately and support patient safety.
Problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service with patience, empathy, and care in a fast-paced environment.
Perform dosage calculations and unit conversions while following regulatory standards and company policies for safe, compliant medication preparation and dispensing.
Troubleshoot rejected insurance claims and address related issues to support customers.
Accurately and efficiently enter prescription information.
Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and company policies.
Handle medications properly and follow department policies and procedures.
