About The Position

CVS Health Pharmacy Technicians help patients and customers by supporting the safe, accurate, and timely filling of prescriptions and ensuring medication needs and regulatory compliance standards are met. The role involves managing assigned pharmacy workstations and tasks, providing compassionate customer service, maintaining patient confidentiality, and following professional and ethical standards as well as applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

New Pharmacy Technicians must complete CVS Pharmacy’s training program and satisfy applicable state registration, licensing, and certification requirements. Duties may initially be restricted by a manager until those requirements are met. Technicians can continue developing clinical, technical, and insurance knowledge through available tools and training. Licensure requirements vary by state. In select markets, collective bargaining agreement rules may apply. Depending on the role and location, COVID-19 vaccination may be required where permitted by law, subject to applicable accommodations.

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Meet applicable state licensure, registration, and certification requirements; requirements vary by state.
• Ability to concentrate on tasks without being distracted.
• Customer service orientation, including helping people in a friendly manner and responding appropriately to customers’ reactions.
• Verbal and written communication skills for interacting with customers and colleagues; active listening skills.
• Mathematical reasoning, including using math to calculate a prescription’s days’ supply.
• Problem-resolution skills, including recognizing problems and choosing an appropriate course of action.
• Ability to meet the listed physical demands, including remaining upright for sustained periods, moving around the work area, finger dexterity, bending and stooping, oral communication and hearing, close visual acuity, and occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
• Previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
• PTCB National Certification.
• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Manage assigned pharmacy workstations and tasks to help the team fill prescriptions promptly, safely, and accurately.
• Help ensure patients’ medication needs and regulatory compliance standards are met.
• Provide caring service to patients and customers that exceeds expectations.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and demonstrate ethical conduct.
• Complete CVS Pharmacy’s Pharmacy Technician Training Program and meet applicable state registration, licensing, and certification requirements.
• Continue developing clinical, technical, and insurance knowledge using available tools and training.
