About The Position

At Wegmans, pharmacy technicians help build trust by providing best-in-class service and ensuring customers receive the medical attention, care, and health services they depend on. The role is in a fast-paced pharmacy team focused on compassionate customer service and safe, compliant medication preparation and dispensing. The position is part time at the Wegmans location at 4722 Onondaga Blvd, Syracuse, NY 13219. Availability is required for afternoon and evening shifts, including weekends; shifts may end as late as 9 p.m. Applicants must be at least 18 years old. Some states require national technician certification and/or state registration. Applicants may be hired before obtaining those qualifications, and Wegmans will support them through the process. Depending on location, certified pharmacy technicians may earn additional compensation.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
Proficient computer and data entry skills.
Basic math skills, including unit conversions, for dosage calculations and day-supply calculations to support patient safety.
Problem-solving skills.
Some states require national technician certification and/or state registration to work as a pharmacy technician.

Responsibilities

Provide excellent customer service with patience, empathy, and care in a fast-paced environment.
Perform accurate dosage calculations and unit conversions while following regulatory standards and company policies for safe, compliant medication preparation and dispensing.
Troubleshoot rejected insurance claims and address issues to support customers.
Accurately and efficiently enter prescription information.
Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and company policies.
Handle medications properly and follow department policies and procedures.
