Pharmacy Technician Trainee
About The Position
At Wegmans, pharmacy technicians help build trust by providing best-in-class service and ensuring customers receive the medical attention, care, and health services they depend on. The role is in a fast-paced pharmacy and involves accurately preparing and dispensing medications while following regulatory standards and company policies. Applicants may be hired before obtaining any state-required registration or national technician certification; Wegmans will support them through that process. Depending on location, certified pharmacy technicians may earn additional compensation.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Proficient computer and data-entry skills.
- Basic math skills, including unit conversions, to perform dosage calculations and determine day supply accurately and support patient safety.
- Problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service with patience, empathy, and care in a fast-paced environment.
- Perform dosage calculations and unit conversions while following regulatory standards and company policies to support safe, compliant medication preparation and dispensing.
- Troubleshoot rejected insurance claims and address issues to support customers.
- Accurately and efficiently enter prescription information.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and company policies.
- Handle medications properly and follow department policies and procedures.
