About The Position

The Pharmacy Technician Trainee position is a full-time role within the Pharmacy Department at Texas Health Dallas. This role focuses on the accurate preparation, delivery, and storage of medications, utilizing technology where appropriate. The position emphasizes ensuring accuracy, maintaining competencies, and adhering to quality improvement and patient safety standards. It also involves ongoing professional development, effective communication, teamwork, and training new employees on routine tasks. Additionally, the role contributes to minimizing pharmaceutical costs and discovering process efficiencies.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent is required
  • No experience is required
  • Pharmacy Technician Trainee Texas State Board of Pharmacy Upon Hire is required
  • RPhT - Registered Pharmacy Technician within 6 Months of hire is required
  • Proficiency in written and verbal English language, computers, the ability to adapt to various software systems, and basic math including conversion, proportions, ratios, and algebra.
  • The ability to work alone and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Timely and accurate preparation, delivery to the nursing units/appropriate departments & storage of medications, including (when appropriate) the use of technology to do so, varies by location.
  • Ensuring accuracy of one's own work as well as the maintenance of required competencies, and other documentation. Must reflect consistently departmental quality improvement and Patient Safety standards, programs, and initiatives.
  • Ongoing professional development and growth, leads by example, perpetuates accountability, manages own time.
  • Communicate effectively, develop positive working relationships and role model teamwork that reflects the Texas Health Promise Behaviors. Trains new employees on routine tasks, under the direction of designated personnel.
  • Shares the responsibility for minimizing pharmaceutical costs (including wastage) and discovering new process efficiencies.
