About The Position

Shady Grove Medical Center seeks to hire a Pharmacy Technician Supervisor who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing. This role is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the Pharmacy Technicians, including recruitment, training, competencies, workflow, scheduling, conflict resolution, corrective action, and performance reviews. The supervisor will also evaluate and refine workflow processes, oversee timekeeping and payroll, provide staff training and development, and ensure compliance with USP 795, 797, and 800 in conjunction with pharmacy leadership. Additionally, the role involves creating and evaluating competency assessments, participating in the recruiting process by interviewing applicants, conducting performance evaluations, and assisting pharmacy leadership in designing the future direction of pharmacy services. The supervisor will also staff when necessary and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Current Maryland Pharmacy Technician license and PTCB certification
  • 5 years’ experience as a hospital pharmacy technician
  • 1-year previous experience in a pharmacy leadership tech role
  • Active working knowledge of USP 795, USP 797, USP 800, and 340B
  • Knowledge of software: Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • HS diploma

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with Cerner, Pyxis, Pharmogistics, Carousels, and MacroHelix preferred
  • Advanced degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the Pharmacy Technicians.
  • Oversees all aspects of pharmacy technician duties, including but not limited to recruitment, training, initial and annual competencies, workflow, scheduling, conflict resolution, corrective action, and performance reviews.
  • Evaluate, refine, develop, implement, and monitor workflow processes and improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee timekeeping and payroll which includes scheduling staff, monitoring overtime, tardiness, and absences.
  • Provide staff training and development.
  • Responsible, in conjunction with pharmacy leadership for USP 795, 797, and 800 compliances
  • Create and evaluate competency assessments.
  • Responsible for conflict resolution and corrective action when appropriate.
  • Participate in the recruiting process. Interviews pharmacy technician applicants and works with the pharmacy team to select best candidates.
  • Conduct performance evaluations.
  • Assist pharmacy leadership in designing the future direction of pharmacy services
  • Staff when necessary and performs other duties as assigned
