The Medication History Pharmacy Technician Specialist is responsible for completing area-specific work according to standard processes, procedures, and policies. This role serves as an expert with equipment and technology in a specialized area, troubleshooting technical issues as they arise. The specialist ensures documents and records are accurate and completed in a timely fashion, supports communication and coordination with patients and the care team, and identifies quality improvement opportunities to ensure safe, effective, and efficient services and patient care. They provide input and support for operational changes, advancements, and standardization, and participate in specialized work teams, committees, and councils. The role requires compliance with legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards, staying current with changes in the specialized field, and collaborating with leadership to adopt best practices. Maintaining updated knowledge and skills, contributing to the education of others, and positively contributing to pharmacy department initiatives are also key. The technician may also accept assignments from other pharmacy teammate roles when workload dictates.
