The Medication History Pharmacy Technician Specialist is responsible for completing area-specific work according to standard processes and procedures, adhering to policies. This role serves as an expert with equipment and technology in a specialized area, troubleshooting technical issues as they arise. The specialist ensures documents and records are accurate and completed in a timely fashion, supports methods of communication and coordination with patients and the care team, and identifies quality improvement opportunities based on their specialized skill set to ensure safe, effective, and efficient services and patient care. They provide input to and support the implementation of operational changes, advancements, and site and system standardization. Additionally, they participate in site or system specialized work teams, committees, and councils as applicable, comply with legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards, and keep current with changes in the specialized field. They collaborate with department leadership to adopt best practices, maintain updated knowledge and skills, and contribute to the education of others. The specialist contributes positively to the execution of pharmacy department initiatives and accepts assignments of tasks from other pharmacy teammate roles when workload dictates.
