About The Position

Under the direction of the United States Pharmacopeia Compliance Supervising Pharmacist, this role coordinates the completion and documentation of aseptic technique didactic and practical training for all new employees and recertification of existing employees. The position also completes monthly environmental monitoring of sterile compounding locations, audits and provides feedback to compounding personnel on aseptic technique for continuous performance improvement. The Pharmacy Technician IV assists pharmacists in maintaining an efficient pharmacy department by processing medications, maintaining a neat and clean dispensing area, and performing other necessary functions in the daily routine of the pharmacy department. They may also assist pharmacists in compounding, preparing, labeling, or dispensing drugs for medication orders when necessary.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of prior pharmacy experience AND completion of a pharmacy training program OR Demonstrated experience at the Registered Pharmacy Technician III level.
  • Documented competency in sterile compounding.
  • Certification from the Pharmacy Technician Board (PTCB).
  • NYS Pharmacy Technician Licensure and Registration.
  • PTCB certification as a Certified Compounded Sterile Preparation Technician® (CSPT®) or obtain certification within 18 months.

  • Assists in the maintenance of a neat and clean dispensing area and performing functions as necessary in the daily routine of the pharmacy department.
  • Assists pharmacists, as directed, in compounding, preparing, labeling or dispensing of drugs used to fill medication orders when necessary.
