About The Position

Princeton Medical Group is seeking a dedicated and talented Pharmacy Technician for a Full-Time MID Pharmacy Technician position in an office setting. This role supports a wide variety of medical specialties within our dynamic team. Requirements

  • High School Graduate/GED/ Equivalent
  • Completion of a Pharmacy Technician Program
  • New Jersey Board of Pharmacy Technician registration
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)
  • Minimum 2 years of previous pharmacy technician experience
  • Specialty pharmacy (oncology) experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, compound, and dispense medications, including chemotherapy and biotherapy, as directed by the manager of infusion operations.
  • Review prescriptions for accuracy and suitability.
  • Complete patient paperwork/authorizations related to patients, including authorizations for coverage of medical benefits as necessary; submit appeals as necessary.
  • Follow and maintain procedures for missing, packaging, or labeling pharmaceuticals, according to policy and legal requirements, to ensure quality, security, and proper disposal under the direction of the Pharmacists/Department Leadership.
  • Perform accurate mathematical calculations and medication measurements for compounding and preparation.
  • Process prescriptions through the Point-of-Sale (POS) system, including patient checkout, HIPAA signature collection, payment posting, and reconciliation.
  • Maintain any necessary Quality Assurance logs, including (but not limited to) cleaning logs, temperature logs, waste logs, expired and destroyed medication logs, and others.
  • Order supplies and medication, receive and restock medications, and conduct routine medication inventories via Nucleus.
  • Perform daily/weekly cleaning of dispensing room and equipment as required per PMG's Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Compare and verify insurance coverage between Medical and Pharmacy benefits for financial analysis.
  • Reconcile MID medications to Nucleus patient medication reports.
  • Communicate with the physician regarding Rx approval and filling updates.
  • Direct patients and refer prescriptions to their best coverage by using Medical or Pharmacy benefit to help offering the best care.
  • Follow up with patients regarding prescription updates and pickup.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
