About The Position

Sentara is hiring an Inventory Planner/Buyer, Pharmacy Technician at Sentara Independence for the Central Repackaging Pharmacy. Sentara Health is launching an innovative Centralized Pharmacy Service Center (CPSC) designed to transform medication distribution across the system. This cutting-edge initiative leverages automation, robotics, and advanced inventory management systems to support acute care facilities with efficiency, accuracy, and safety. We are seeking a Central Repackaging Pharmacy Technician / Inventory Planner to join the first phase of this groundbreaking project. This unique role combines hands-on technical work with inventory planning responsibilities, making it ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, tech-savvy, and excited to help build new processes from the ground up. The Pharmacy Tech Inventory Planner performs the inventory management responsibilities for the pharmacy under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner. Demonstrates ownership of all pharmacy buyer functions. Demonstrates advanced technical skills and ownership of the work area. Demonstrates the ability to competently work independently. Assumes local and/or system responsibility for assigned tasks. Participates in the training of new employees. Provides peer coaching and constructive feedback to other colleagues in a professional and productive manner. Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner. Ensures adequate supplies and medications are available for continuous patient care. Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed. Uses appropriate systems for processing patient and financial information. Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements. Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately. Training in Pharmacy Inventory job functions. In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

High School Diploma or Equivalent
Virginia Pharmacy Tech License (Required)
CPhT License (Received through the NHA or PTCB) (Required)
2 Years of Pharmacy Experience (Required)
