As an Inpatient Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in moving medications throughout the facility to enhance patient care. You will join a team that empowers every caregiver to make valuable contributions to patient-focused care, teaching, and research activities. This team embraces a positive attitude and respects and supports one another to provide the best care possible. A caregiver in this position works full time, 8 hour shifts between 6am-11:30pm Monday - Friday with rotating every other weekend. There is potential to float to Mentor Hospital.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED
- Must hold an active registration as a Registered Pharmacy Technician through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP).
- Understanding of algebraic calculations necessary for the preparation of extemporaneous compounds
Nice To Haves
- Six months of hospital experience
- Must obtain a national certification as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA) AND Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy within 18 months from the date of hire.
Responsibilities
- Prepare medications through selecting, labeling, repacking, non-sterile compounding and sterile compounding.
- Deliver medications to the appropriate storage locations in an accurate and timely manner.
- Maintain accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies and complete inventory audits, such as cycle counts and nursing unit inspections.
- Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations, and document regulatory requirements such as temperature logs, scheduled activities and training.
- Use information systems, technology and automation to complete assigned tasks.
- Assist with the training of pharmacy caregivers and students.
