Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
  • 6 Months experience in a hospital pharmacy Required
  • RPhT - Registered Pharmacy Technician Upon Hire Required
  • IV Certification Upon Hire

Responsibilities

  • Functionality requiring additional competency above Tech I, may require less supervision than a Tech I
  • Autonomous responsibility either with record keeping or as a single point of contact outside the department
  • Advanced technology expertise and ownership
  • Delegated functions of pharmacy leadership (manager or lead technicians)
  • Timely and accurate preparation, delivery to the nursing units/appropriate departments & storage of medications, including (when appropriate) the use of technology to do so, varies by location.
  • Ensuring accuracy of one's own work as well as the maintenance of required competencies, and other documentation. Must reflect consistently departmental quality improvement and patient safety standards, programs and initiatives.
  • Ongoing professional development and growth, leads by example, perpetuates accountability, manages own time.
  • Communicate effectively, develop positive working relationships and role model teamwork that reflects the Texas Health Promise Behaviors. Trains new employees on routine tasks, under the direction of designated personnel.
  • Manages own time and shares the responsibility for minimizing pharmaceutical costs (including wastage) and discovering new process efficiencies. Validates competency completion for new employees.
  • Other duties as assigned
