This position assists licensed pharmacists in technical duties related to the preparation and distribution of medications. The role involves accurately selecting, preparing, and labeling medications for patients, including hazardous drugs and controlled substances. It also includes assisting with medication distribution tasks, screening phone calls, and managing daily pharmacy procurement, inventory control, and outdate checking. The technician will complete documentation for controlled substances, perform nonsterile compounding and potentially sterile IV admixture following USP standards and aseptic technique, and inspect medication storage areas. Additional duties may include completing and documenting medication admission histories, assisting in training other technicians, supporting leaders with goals, and performing data entry for record keeping, insurance verification, and label generation. The role may also involve cashiering, third-party billing functions, obtaining immunization certification and performing immunizations under supervision, and operating an Advocate Health-owned vehicle for medication delivery.
