About The Position

This is a full-time position in the Pharmacy Department at Texas Health Plano. The role involves the timely and accurate preparation, delivery, and storage of medications, utilizing technology where appropriate. The Pharmacy Technician will ensure the accuracy of their own work, maintain required competencies and documentation, and uphold departmental quality improvement and patient safety standards. The position requires ongoing professional development, accountability, and effective time management. The technician will communicate effectively, develop positive working relationships, and model teamwork that reflects the Texas Health Promise Behaviors. They will also train new employees on routine tasks under supervision and share responsibility for minimizing pharmaceutical costs and discovering process efficiencies. Texas Health Plano is a 386-bed, full-service hospital serving North Texas, specializing in various medical fields and holding multiple accreditations and designations, including Magnet designation. The department offers a high level of safety with experienced staff, 24/7 coverage for a 386-bed facility across four locations, and leadership supportive of individual and departmental growth.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent is required
  • Pharmacy Tech Hospital experience is strongly preferred
  • RPhT - Registered Pharmacy Technician Upon Hire is required
  • Proficiency in written and verbal English language
  • Proficiency with computers
  • Ability to adapt to various software systems
  • Basic math including conversions, proportions, ratios, and algebra.
  • The ability to work alone and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • IV Certification Upon Hire is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Timely and accurate preparation, delivery to the nursing units/appropriate departments & storage of medications, including (when appropriate) the use of technology to do so, varies by location.
  • Ensuring accuracy of one's own work as well as the maintenance of required competencies, and other documentation.
