Assists licensed pharmacists in technical duties related to the preparation and distribution of medications, including hazardous drugs and controlled substances. This role involves screening phone calls, assisting with daily pharmacy procurement and inventory control, and completing necessary documentation. The Pharmacy Technician will also perform nonsterile compounding and sterile IV admixture following USP standards and aseptic techniques, inspect medication storage areas, and may complete medication admission histories. Opportunities to assist in training other technicians and participate in quality improvement initiatives are available. The position requires data entry for record keeping, insurance verification, label generation, and cashiering, with a need to develop competence in third-party billing functions. The role also involves operating an Advocate Health-owned motor vehicle to deliver medications and supplies as needed.
