This position assists a licensed pharmacist in technical duties related to the preparation and distribution of medications. The Pharmacy Technician I accurately selects, prepares, and labels medications for patients, including hazardous drugs and controlled substances. They also assist with medication distribution tasks, screen phone calls, and manage daily pharmacy procurement, inventory control, and outdate checking. The role may involve performing nonsterile compounding and sterile IV admixture following USP standards and proper aseptic technique, where applicable. Additionally, the technician inspects medication storage areas, completes documentation for controlled substances, and may obtain immunization certification to perform immunizations under pharmacist supervision. This role also includes operating an Advocate Health-owned motor vehicle for medication delivery if required.
