About The Position

Centene is seeking a Pharmacy Technician I (Specialty Outreach) to join their Medical Management/Health Services team. This role involves remote specialty outreach support with a strong focus on customer service, primarily through phone outreach (90% of the shift) and data entry. The technician will contact medical offices to clarify and enter prescriptions, contact patients for prescription updates, support the pharmacist callback queue for refills and clarifications, assist with pre-QA/data entry, and respond to email escalations. The position requires staying current with training and being computer savvy with a typing speed of at least 40 WPM. Specialty pharmacy experience, particularly with Infusion and/or Oncology, is highly preferred. The working shift is Monday - Friday, 9:30 AM - 6 PM (Central/CST).

Requirements

  • Must reside in and maintain an active pharmacist license in one of the following states: Texas, Florida, Missouri, California, or Michigan.
  • Comfortable handling phone calls and data entry with a positive, professional attitude.
  • Computer savvy; able to type at least 40 WPM.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1+ years of pharmacy technician or medical office (i.e. biller, coder, office assistance, or prior authorization/certification) experience.
  • Familiarity with drugs commonly used to treat chronic/debilitating illnesses.
  • State pharmacy technician license relative to where the assigned pharmacy is located. License required at the time of hire.
  • Must reside in and hold an active pharmacy technician license in TX, FL, MO, CA, or MI.

Nice To Haves

  • Specialty pharmacy with Infusion and/or Oncology, highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Pharmacists to accurately prepare prescription orders in a timely manner.
  • Interact with various departments to provide accurately dispensed prescriptions on a timely basis.
  • Work under direct supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Perform prescription data entry functions (preQA) by viewing images and inputting prescription information directly into the system.
  • Prepare and submit request for prescription refills.
  • Initiate clarification requests.
  • Receive verbal instructions from prescribers as allowed by pharmacy regulation.
  • Complete reorder processing for the timely filling of prescription refills.
  • Comply with safety, quality assurance, accreditation, legal, state, and federal regulatory requirements, and company policies.
  • Complete work list according to guidelines set by Manager.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
  • Contacting medical offices to clarify and enter prescriptions.
  • Contacting patients to provide updates on prescription outcomes.
  • Supporting the Pharmacist callback queue by helping obtain refills and prescription clarifications.
  • Assisting with pre-QA/data entry.
  • Responding to email escalations.
  • Staying current with required training.
