About The Position

Carolina Family Health Centers, Inc. is a nonprofit, federally qualified health center (FQHC) dedicated to providing accessible and affordable healthcare to the community, regardless of an individual's ability to pay or insurance status. We offer integrated primary medical care, behavioral health, pharmacy, and dental services. Pharmacy Technicians at our Wilson Community Health Center play a crucial role in assisting the Pharmacist with various pharmacy services, including patient eligibility verification, medication access, filling, and dispensing, all in compliance with North Carolina Board of Pharmacy regulations. This position offers a 40-hour workweek with no weekends, a full benefits package, 12 paid holidays, and bi-weekly pay.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • NC Driver License.
  • Self-directed with good organization skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Team player.

Nice To Haves

  • National Pharmacy Technician certification preferred through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.
  • Previous pharmacy work experience preferred.
  • Previous Community Health Center experience preferred.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the pharmacy patient service area and all related patient service activities.
  • Support the pharmacy in related dispensing activities as needed.
  • Accept new or refill prescription requests from patients.
  • Distribute prepared and dispensed prescriptions to patients or their representatives.
  • Ensure patients are accurately registered with the pharmacy upon accepting prescription requests.
  • Inquire with patients about any changes since their previous pharmacy visit.
  • Accurately enter patient information including name, address, date of birth, CFHC, Inc. medical record number, telephone number(s), medication allergies, and payment type.
  • Provide new or refill prescription requests to pharmacy staff for processing.
  • Answer the telephone promptly (within 4 rings) for refill requests and general pharmacy questions.
  • Forward more detailed pharmacy questions to the Pharmacist.
  • Serve as an inquiry point for health center visitors.
  • Check in pharmacy patient appointments and notify appropriate staff of patient arrival.
