About The Position

Cleveland Clinic's Main Campus is seeking a Pharmacy Technician – Ambulatory to support a high-volume outpatient pharmacy. This role involves processing approximately 1,100 prescriptions per day. Responsibilities include preparing prescription orders, maintaining inventory, operating the point-of-sale system, and supporting complex non-sterile compounding in accordance with USP <795> guidelines. Additional duties include bulk and extemporaneous compounding, monitoring inventory and reorder points, restocking products, and removing expired medications. Caregivers may also provide support across multiple pharmacy locations based on departmental needs. This is a full-time position with rotating 8-hour shifts between 6:30 am and 6:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Caregivers also participate in a rotating weekend schedule approximately every 8th–9th weekend and a holiday rotation approximately once every three years.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Upon hire, must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA).
  • Upon hire, must hold an active registration through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP) as either a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician, or Pharmacy Technician Trainee.
  • Caregivers with active Pharmacy Technician Trainee or Registered Pharmacy Technician registrations are required to update their registration to a Certified Pharmacy Technician registration with the OBOP within 6 months.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Provide distributive pharmacy services, assistance and support for the pharmacist in an ambulatory/outpatient setting.
  • Prepare prescription orders for dispensing to patients.
  • Maintain inventory for the outpatient pharmacy.
  • Assist with extemporaneous compounding of prescriptions and bulk compounding of prescriptions and over the counter items.
  • Operate the point-of-sale cash register system.
  • Monitor and act on reorder points, restock prescription and non-prescription area and remove expiring products.
  • Provide multi-pharmacy support in assigned areas as needed.
