About The Position

The Certified Pharmacy Technician supports pharmacy services by stocking, assembling, and distributing medications under the direct supervision of the Pharmacist. With a Quality, Customer First, and Compassionate approach, The Certified Pharmacy Technician will: Assist health care providers and patients by greeting them in person and by phone, answering questions and requests, and referring inquiries to the pharmacist. Use appropriate telephone skills and respond to calls that do not require the personal attention of a pharmacist. Assist patients as they drop off prescriptions. Process prescriptions by entering patient data, insurance, and prescription information into a computer. Complete transactions upon pick-up with consideration of patient’s needs. Collect copays and counsel patients on account balances. Input prescriptions/refills and create/update patient profiles and third-party setups accurately. Enter all data into the computer for all medical/dental patients requesting assistance with medications. Advocate for patients when barriers to receiving medication are encountered. Inform patients when delays are encountered with filling their prescription. Demonstrate knowledge of programs offered by Sunrise Community Health. Maintain pharmacy inventory by checking pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory levels. Anticipating needed medications and supplies, placing, and expediting orders, verifying receipt of orders, putting orders away accurately, and removing outdated drugs. Organize medications for pharmacist to dispense by reading medication orders and prescriptions, preparing labels, calculating quantities, assembling intravenous solutions and other pharmaceutical therapies. Complete credit and manual returns process for Colorado Medicaid DME. Follow up with pharmacy assistance programs approval or denial processes. Determine and explain eligibility status for financial programs associated with pharmacy programs. Compile monthly data of pharmaceutical programs. Prepare reports by collecting and summarizing information. Comply with all 340B Policies and Procedures when dispensing medications.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED.
  • Associate’s Degree in Pharmaceutical Technology.
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification/Licensure.
  • 1-2 years’ experience as a Pharmacy Technician, or equivalent combination, education, and experience.
