The Pharmacy Technician – Ambulatory supports outpatient pharmacy operations at the Taussig Cancer Center, providing exceptional service to oncology patients throughout their treatment journey. Working in a patient-centered environment, this caregiver fills and processes prescriptions, assists patients at the pharmacy counter, answers medication-related phone inquiries, and supports insurance coordination, including prescription coverage and prior authorizations. Additional responsibilities include collaborating with pharmacists, providers, and Medication Access Coordinators to resolve prescription issues, maintaining medication inventory, and helping ensure patients receive timely access to their medications. This role offers the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with patients and families while supporting high-quality oncology care. A caregiver in this position will work rotating day shifts between 7:45am to 4:15pm, 8:45am to 5:15pm, and 9:45am to 6:15pm, Monday through Friday, at the Taussig Cancer Center – 1st Floor Pharmacy. Caregivers participate in a rotating weekend schedule every fourth to fifth weekend at the Euclid Avenue Pharmacy and work approximately one holiday every three to four years. Weekend assignments at the Euclid Avenue Pharmacy serve as this role's primary float expectation.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED
- Upon hire, must be a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National HealthCareer Association (NHA).
- Upon hire, it is required to hold an active registration through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP) as either a Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician, or Pharmacy Technician Trainee.
- Caregivers with active Pharmacy Technician Trainee or Registered Pharmacy Technician registrations are required to update their registration to a Certified Pharmacy Technician registration with the OBOP within 6 months.
Nice To Haves

Responsibilities
- Provide distributive pharmacy services, assistance and support for the pharmacist in an ambulatory/outpatient setting.
- Prepare prescription orders for dispensing to patients.
- Maintain inventory for the outpatient pharmacy.
- Assist with extemporaneous compounding of prescriptions and bulk compounding of prescriptions and over the counter items.
- Operate the point-of-sale cash register system.
- Monitor and act on reorder points, restock prescription and non-prescription area and remove expiring products.
- Provide multi-pharmacy support in assigned areas as needed.
