About The Position

The Sylvester - Pharmacy Patient Assistance Programs at the University of Miami has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Pharmacy Technician 2. This role involves working as a multidisciplinary team member to identify and enroll patients into various medication Patient Assistance Programs and charity foundations. The technician will collaborate with physicians, mid-level providers, case managers, and social workers across University of Miami clinics to ensure timely initiation of prescribed treatments. Key responsibilities include clearly communicating program requirements, timelines, updates, and expectations to enrollees, performing timely documentation of interactions, and staying updated on new program requirements and eligibility criteria. The role also requires maintaining accurate records, managing an inventory of program medications, auditing patient claims for accurate billing, and assisting with pharmacy department projects and cost-saving initiatives.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the Florida Department of Health
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience

Responsibilities

  • Work as a multidisciplinary team member to identify and enroll patients into various medication Patient Assistance Programs and charity foundations
  • Work with physicians, mid-level providers, case managers, and social workers at a number of University of Miami clinics to ensure timely initiation of the prescribed treatments
  • Clearly communicate program requirements, timelines, updates, and expectations to enrollees
  • Perform timely documentation of provider, patient, and program interactions as necessary
  • Stay update to date with new program requirements and eligibility criteria as well as maintain accurate records to ensure compliance with all programs
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of all program medications and perform inventory tasks daily, including product intake and distribution for the treatment of program participants, returns, and proper disposal of excess product
  • Audit patient claims for appropriate and accurate billing for Patient Assistance Program administered medications
  • Must be a self-starter with ability to prioritize tasks and manage time to meet priorities in a timely manner
  • Provide routine reports to pharmacy management team on project progress
  • Assist in projects and cost savings initiatives for the pharmacy department
  • Perform other pharmacy and administrative tasks as necessary
