About The Position

The Pharmacy Tech practices the profession of pharmacy in an environment that promotes patient care through its philosophy and policies. This person provides friendly, remarkable customer service to enhance patients’ overall health. The position interacts with patients at different service points, supports pharmacy initiatives and clinical services, and helps process, fill, order, and stock prescription medications. The technician also maintains patient confidentiality and a clean, orderly pharmacy.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Registered and/or licensed as required in the state of practice.
Retail/community practice experience or familiarity.
Excellent customer service skills.

Responsibilities

Interact with patients at various service points of contact.
Promote pharmacy initiatives and clinical services to customers.
Input customer and prescription information into the pharmacy dispensing system.
Create prescription labels and adjudicate insurance claims.
Retrieve appropriate medication from inventory.
Complete paperwork related to filling prescriptions and receiving drug orders.
Order prescription medication for the Pharmacy Department.
Stock prescription medication.
Prioritize workload and maintain effective organization.
Communicate effectively and act as an agent of change.
Maintain a clean and orderly pharmacy for a professional appearance.
Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
Obtain state licensure when required, or successfully complete Meijer employer-based training when licensure is not required.
