About The Position

The Pharmacy Tech is responsible for assisting the pharmacist in the pharmaceutical care services for the hospital. Prepares and processes medication under the supervision of a pharmacist, checks nursing units for proper medication storage, repackages and barcodes medications. Orders, stocks and transports pharmaceutical supplies according to pharmacy policy and procedure. Responds to patients, families, visitors and employees in a courteous, collaborative manner. Considers unique patient needs and demonstrates age-specific competencies. Able to perform mathematical calculations necessary for compounding.

Requirements

• High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
• Registration with Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician within 45 days of employment.
• National technician certification within one (1) year of service.
• Demonstrates competency in aseptic technique and handling hazardous materials.
• Demonstrates a general knowledge of word and data processing operations sufficient to perform data entry and generating necessary reports.

Nice To Haves

• One (1) year hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
