About The Position

Loyola Medicine, an academic health system, is seeking a Pharmacy Technician Trainee to join their team. This part-time, rotating shift position offers the opportunity to earn more, grow faster, and make a real impact. The role involves learning to prepare medication orders, including sterile and non-sterile compounds, and processing physician medication orders to ensure prompt, accurate, and safe medication delivery. The trainee will work under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist and general supervision of a Licensed Technician, ensuring all work meets regulatory compliance standards for the Pharmacy, Pharmacy Automation, Billing, and Inventory, and USP 795/797. The position also requires providing courteous and cooperative service to patients, visitors, and colleagues.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Upon start of program, must be enrolled and maintain enrollment in Trinity Health’s ASHP Pharmacy Technician training program.
• Application for temporary IL Pharmacy Tech license upon start of program.
• Full IL Pharmacy Tech licensure upon completion of the program.
• Pharmacy Tech Trainee will be required to complete the 500 hours of program training and obtain PTCB certification within 180 days of hire.
• Basic aptitude for 8th grade math.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with standard desktop and Windows based computer system, including email, e-learning, intranet and computer navigation.
• Ability to use other software required to perform essential functions.
• Capable of self-motivated and independent study.
• Ability to deal with people at all levels and skills in various situations in a courteous and tactful manner following the Trinity Health Core Values.

Responsibilities

• Learn how to prepare medication orders, including both sterile and non-sterile compounds.
• Process physician medication orders to ensure medications are promptly, accurately, and safely delivered.
• Ensure all work meets regulatory compliance standards as related to the Pharmacy, Pharmacy Automation, Billing, and Inventory, USP 795 / 797.
• Provides courteous, cooperative, and timely service to patients, visitors, and colleagues.
