About The Position

Loyola Medicine, an academic health system, is seeking a Pharmacy Technician Trainee to join their respiratory care team. This role involves learning to prepare medication orders, including sterile and non-sterile compounds, and processing physician medication orders to ensure accurate and safe delivery. The trainee will also ensure compliance with regulatory standards for the Pharmacy, Pharmacy Automation, Billing, and Inventory, as well as USP 795/797. The position requires providing courteous and timely service to patients, visitors, and colleagues.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Must be enrolled and maintain enrollment in Trinity Health’s ASHP Pharmacy Technician training program upon start of program.
• Application for temporary IL Pharmacy Tech license upon start of program.
• Full IL Pharmacy Tech licensure upon completion of the program.
• Required to complete 500 hours of program training and obtain PTCB certification within 180 days of hire.
• Basic aptitude for 8th grade math.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with standard desktop and Windows based computer system, including email, e-learning, intranet and computer navigation.
• Ability to use other software required to perform essential functions.
• Capable of self-motivated and independent study.
• Ability to deal with people at all levels and skills in various situations in a courteous and tactful manner following the Trinity Health Core Values.

Responsibilities

• Learn to prepare medication orders, including both sterile and non-sterile compounds.
• Process physician medication orders to ensure medications are promptly, accurately, and safely delivered.
• Ensure all work meets regulatory compliance standards as related to the Pharmacy, Pharmacy Automation, Billing, and Inventory, USP 795 / 797.
• Provide courteous, cooperative, and timely service to patients, visitors, and colleagues.
