About The Position

Jefferson Healthcare is hiring a Pharmacy Tech Trainee for its Retail Pharmacy. The role provides hands-on training to prepare the trainee for a Pharmacy Tech career. Clinical skills are taught under the supervision of an experienced team member, and no previous medical background is required. The position requires a commitment to five years of employment in Washington State rural healthcare. The schedule is 1.0 FTE, 40 hours per week, day shift. The position is open until filled. Candidates must complete pre-employment screenings, including a criminal background check and, for certain positions, a drug test. Safety-sensitive roles may be tested using a standard or modified non-THC drug panel, consistent with Washington State law.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Obtain a Washington State Pharmacy Assistant License.
Enroll in a commission-approved pharmacy technician training program.
Commit to five years of employment in Washington State rural healthcare.

Nice To Haves

National certification (PTCB or ExCPT) is not required for trainee status but is expected upon program completion, if applicable.
BLS certification is not required for the trainee role unless organizationally mandated.

Responsibilities

Greet patients and direct inquiries to appropriate staff.
Assist patients with general questions and refer clinical or complex issues to a pharmacist.
Observe and assist with prescription intake, data entry, and insurance processing.
Assist with point-of-sale transactions under supervision.
Observe and assist with prescription preparation, labeling, and packaging in accordance with state and federal regulations.
Assist with inventory activities, including stocking, organizing, and monitoring supplies.
