Pharmacy Tech Trainee
About The Position
Jefferson Healthcare is seeking a Pharmacy Tech Trainee to join its Retail Pharmacy team. The role provides hands-on training to prepare the trainee for a career as a Pharmacy Tech. Clinical skills are taught under the supervision of an experienced team member. No previous medical background is required. The trainee supports customer service and pharmacy operations, including prescription intake, data entry, insurance processing, point-of-sale transactions, prescription preparation, and inventory activities. Prescription-related work is performed under supervision and in accordance with state and federal regulations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Obtain a Washington State Pharmacy Assistant License.
- Enroll in a commission-approved pharmacy technician training program.
- Commit to five years of employment in Washington State rural healthcare.
Nice To Haves
- National certification (PTCB or ExCPT) is not required for trainee status, but is expected upon program completion if applicable.
- BLS certification is not required for the trainee role unless organizationally mandated.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients and direct inquiries to appropriate staff.
- Assist patients with general questions and refer clinical or complex issues to a pharmacist.
- Observe and assist with prescription intake, data entry, and insurance processing.
- Assist with point-of-sale transactions under supervision.
- Observe and assist with preparing, labeling, and packaging prescriptions in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Assist with inventory activities, including stocking, organizing, and monitoring supplies.
