About The Position

At Centinela Hospital Medical Center, the Lead Pharmacy Technician works under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist to assist with pharmacy department activities that do not require the pharmacist’s professional judgment. The role also has supervisory responsibilities, including expertise with Pyxis, Meditech, and drug ordering. The position performs technical pharmacy duties such as maintaining patient records; setting up, packaging, and labeling medication doses; filling and dispensing routine stock orders for patient-care areas; maintaining drug inventories; and mixing drugs with parenteral fluids. Additional duties include physician order entry, scheduling technicians, supervising automated drug delivery equipment, maintaining quality assurance programs, and overseeing pharmacy technicians. Care areas served include general medicine and surgery, intensive care, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, emergency care, transitional care, geriatrics, and outpatient services.

Requirements

At least five years of current hospital pharmacy experience in inpatient unit-dose and IV admixture, and outpatient prescription service.
Typing skills, filing, and clerical work skills.
Computer knowledge, including experience with automated drug delivery systems.
California Registered Pharmacy Technician Certificate.

Responsibilities

Maintain patient records.
