Pharmacy Tech II Per Diem Variable Shift

About The Position

The Pharmacy Tech II ensures medications are available and delivered to authorized locations and personnel, maintains in-date medication inventory, obtains accurate patient medication histories, prepares and repackages medications accurately, and records and charges supplies and medications to the correct patient or location.

Requirements

Active California Pharmacy Technician license.
Demonstrated communication, project management, and computer literacy skills.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to prioritize responsibilities and perform in high-pressure situations.

Nice To Haves

Pharmacy technician certification preferred.
One year of pharmacy technician experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Adhere to hospital and departmental policies and procedures, including requirements related to risk management, safety, security, fire, and infection control, and comply with applicable state, local, and federal regulations.
Answer phones and attend pharmacy staff meetings and in-services.
Check in and stock orders, reorder as required, and credit returned medications.
Deliver medications and controlled substances, including rounds on an hourly or as-needed basis.
Enter charges for manual billing needs.
Fill medications for review by Staff Pharmacists and prepare accurate sterile IV orders.
Inspect medication storage locations; inventory and refill floor stock, Automated Dispensing Cabinets, and emergency trays.
Maintain organized, accurate, and sufficient inventory, and maintain the safety, integrity, and professionalism of the pharmacy.
Obtain accurate home medication histories through chart review, patient interviews, and calls to retail pharmacies and physician offices.
Repackage medications and ensure proper authorization.
Perform other functions as defined or delegated by the Direct Supervisor and other duties as assigned.
