About The Position

This is a full-time, benefits-eligible Pharmacy Tech I position at Advocate Christ Medical Center, working a 7-on 7-off night shift rotation from Thursday to Thursday, 8pm-7:30am. The role involves developing competence in medication dispensing and delivery, preparing non-sterile products, processing medication orders, managing phone calls, and complying with legal and regulatory standards. Requirements

Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) issued by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board needs to be obtained within 2 years, or Pharmacy Technician Certified (CPhT) issued by the National Healthcare Association needs to be obtained within 2 years.
High School Graduate.
Aseptic technique.
Sterile compounding.
Math calculations.
Good mathematics skills.
Attention to details.
Good communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

Develops competence in dispensing and delivery of medications.
Develops competence in the department’s use of information systems, technology, and automation used for dispensing and storage of medications.
Develops competence in preparing non-sterile products following USP, state, and federal recommendations, as required.
Develops competence in entering medication orders in the computer system and/or processing medication requests via the computer system.
Develops competence in managing phone calls from customers and team members such as nurses, physicians or patients.
Accurately understanding and interpreting the issue, timely resolution, or timely hand-off to another team member as appropriate.
Develops competence in pharmacy procedures and documentation as required, satisfying legal, regulatory, and department requirements of pharmacy practice.
Complies with legal, regulatory, accreditation standards.
This includes (but is not limited to) controlled substance procedures, USP procedures and DNV requirements.
