About The Position

The Pharmacy Supervisor - Retail is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the retail pharmacy department. This includes managing pharmacy team members, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards, coordinating services, and implementing policies and procedures for safe medication use. The role also involves assessing and improving pharmacy services, supporting committee decisions, training staff, and monitoring patient pharmacotherapeutic regimens. The supervisor is directly involved in the preparation and dispensing of pharmaceuticals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy or a PharmD from an accredited school of pharmacy required.
  • Licensed in the state of applicable state or eligible for reciprocity required.
  • 2 years of work related experience in pharmacy required.
  • Must have use of both hands, be able to see clearly and read small type such as that on unit-dose medication packages and syringes.
  • Must be able to speak and be understood by others.
  • Must be able to hear normal sounds with moderate background noises.

  • Exposure to cancer chemotherapy agents.

Responsibilities

  • Makes decisions regarding employment, promotion, discipline, and termination of pharmacy team members in collaboration with Pharmacy Leadership.
  • Evaluates pharmacy teammate job performances on an annual basis.
  • Ensures that the pharmacy department adheres to all regulatory bodies including, but not limited to the DEA, the FDA and applicable state Board of Pharmacy.
  • Oversees pharmacy staffing and scheduling to ensure safe patient care.
  • Coordinates and integrates interdepartmental and intradepartmental services and participates in various committees.
  • Ensures that policies and procedures promoting safe and effective use of medications are followed.
  • Assists in the planning of new and/or revised pharmacy services based on new innovations, technology and/or regulatory changes.
  • Assesses and improves the performance of the pharmacy services provided.
  • Provides an ongoing assessment of care and services provided through organizational processes.
  • Coordinates the implementation plan and supports decisions made by the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
  • Initiates the proper training of pharmacy teammates in area of responsibilities.
  • Designs, recommends, monitors and evaluates patient specific pharmacotherapeutic regimens.
  • Supervises daily preparation and dispensing of all pharmaceuticals.
