About The Position

This role involves all aspects of the medication use process, including procurement, prescribing, compounding, dispensing, storage of medications, administration, and monitoring. The Pharmacy Supervisor II partners with physicians and other clinicians to provide treatments and advice to patients, records patient history relating to medication use, and ensures the safe and secure storage of medications and related supplies. They advise physicians in determining the best possible treatments for specific diseases, stay current on pharmacy regulations, treatments, and developments in research and design. Pharmacists are the experts on drug therapy and the primary health professionals who optimize the use of medication for the benefit of patients. This role also meets the educational needs of patients, healthcare teams, students, and residents, and ensures adherence to regulatory and fiscal requirements. This position provides direct supervision typically to professionals or skilled technical employees and functions as an advisor to the unit and administration. The supervisor analyzes and resolves problems, interprets policies (e.g., fiscal management, HR, contracts and grants, resource management in defined areas), and demonstrates solid subject matter knowledge. They exercise judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action. The supervisor oversees staff to assure accountability and stewardship of department resources (operational, financial, and human) in compliance with departmental goals and objectives. Provides supervision to pharmacists. May also include supervision of technical support staff. Responsible for assigned staff scheduling, timekeeping, training, goal setting, and performance evaluations.
