About The Position

The Pharmacy Sales Technician performs Pharmacy Service Representative functions to help ensure prompt service in the Pharmacy Department. Duties include entering prescription and patient information into the computer system, processing insurance billing, accepting new and refill prescription information, and assisting with medication retrieval and prescription preparation where permitted by state law. The role also supports pharmacy cleanliness and organization, inventory processes, and reconstitution of oral liquids where permitted by state law. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED, plus 600 practical hours working in retail and/or pharmacy operations; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Responsibilities

Perform all functions and duties of a Pharmacy Service Representative to ensure prompt service in the Pharmacy Department.
Enter prescription information, including patient and prescriber searches, drug selection, prescription interpretation and entry, insurance billing, and basic problem resolution.
Accept customer and prescription information to process new and refill prescriptions, including refill authorization from doctor offices where permitted by state law.
Retrieve appropriate medication from inventory where permitted by state law.
Create prescription labels and place them on prescription containers where permitted by state law.
Place medication into prescription containers where permitted by state law.
Complete paperwork related to filling prescriptions and enter customer and prescription data into the computer system where permitted by law.
Help keep the Pharmacy Department clean and orderly.
Assist with inventory management, including order review, inventory returns, restocking shelves, and physical inventory preparation.
Reconstitute oral liquids where permitted by state law.
