About The Position

The Pharmacy Sales Technician performs Pharmacy Service Representative functions to help ensure prompt service in the Pharmacy Department. Duties include entering prescription and customer information, assisting with prescription processing and inventory, and supporting the cleanliness and organization of the department. Tasks must be performed within the limits permitted by state law. The position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, plus 600 practical hours working in retail and/or pharmacy operations, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Responsibilities

• Perform Pharmacy Service Representative functions to ensure prompt service in the Pharmacy Department.
• Enter prescription information into the computer, including patient and prescriber searches, drug selection, prescription interpretation and entry, insurance billing, and basic problem resolution.
• Accept customer and prescription information needed to process new and refill prescriptions, including refill authorization from doctor offices where permitted by state law.
• Retrieve medications from inventory where permitted by state law.
• Create prescription labels and attach them to prescription containers where permitted by state law.
• Place medication into prescription containers where permitted by state law.
• Complete prescription-filling paperwork and enter customer and prescription data into the computer system where permitted by law.
• Help keep the Pharmacy Department clean and orderly.
• Assist with inventory management, including order review, inventory returns, restocking shelves, and physical inventory preparation.
• Reconstitute oral liquids where permitted by state law.
