About The Position

Accountable for all aspects of pharmacy practice within the limits of state and federal laws and corporate policies. The Pharmacy/Pharmacist Leader manages and maximizes the pharmacy department’s financial performance by monitoring the budget, controlling labor and inventory costs, training and developing staff, providing excellent customer service, managing prescription pricing and generic utilization, and providing or participating in approved clinical services. The leader performs all staff pharmacist duties and serves as a role model for the pharmacy team. They direct pharmacy operations and workflow, oversee sales initiatives, maintain required records and compliance, manage third-party and insurance issues, and work toward budgeted labor, volume, inventory, and sales goals. The role also includes community outreach, public health initiatives, disease state management, staff supervision and coaching, and independent travel as needed to support business needs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy and/or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited U.S. School of Pharmacy.
• At least 2 years of related retail experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum age of 21.
• Participate in clinical programs following company-sponsored training.
• Ability and willingness to continue education as necessary.
• Ability to preserve confidentiality of information.
• Commitment to providing excellent customer service.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to read and interpret prescriptions and documents.
• Proven leadership skills.
• Pharmacist license must be in good standing.

Nice To Haves

• Relevant Pharmacy Board Certification(s).
• Equivalent combination of education and experience in business management.

Responsibilities

• Perform all staff pharmacist functions and act as a role model for the pharmacy team.
• Handle customer complaints appropriately and direct workflow to reduce customer wait times.
• Develop, implement, supervise, and promote the sales plan and other sales initiatives developed by the division pharmacy department.
• Perform the duties required of a registered pharmacist in the state of employment and follow legal and company requirements.
• Direct the pharmacy team to achieve warehouse utilization goals, avoid unnecessary overstock, reduce fill-on-arrival prescriptions, and follow proper ordering and inventory record-keeping procedures.
• Comply with corporate-mandated controlled substance operating procedures.
• Monitor third-party or insurance profitability and handle related problems, rejections, and audits in a timely manner.
• Schedule pharmacy staff to help control or avoid unnecessary labor costs.
• Maintain pharmacy records required by state and federal laws and company policies.
• Direct the pharmacy to meet budgeted labor, volume, inventory, and sales goals.
• Conduct effective detailing visits with local physicians and other community targets.
• Promote, implement, and participate in public health initiatives and disease state management services.
• Travel independently as needed to support business needs.
• Supervise and coach direct reports, complete performance reviews, and provide direct feedback.
