The Pharmacy Operations Manager (MGH) directs and oversees the daily operations of pharmacy services within assigned areas of the Department of Pharmacy. This position provides leadership, guidance, and support to pharmacists, pharmacy technician supervisors, pharmacy technicians, and pharmacy interns, serving as a positive role model and resource to pharmacy staff and other healthcare professionals. The Pharmacy Operations Manager is accountable for the safe, effective, timely, and reliable preparation and distribution of medications and pharmacy services. This role oversees daily operations, staffing, personnel management, quality and safety, regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and appropriate utilization of financial and human resources. The manager actively evaluates pharmacy operations and implements improvements that enhance workflow, quality, safety, productivity, reliability, and financial performance. The Pharmacy Operations Manager participates in determining short- and long-term departmental goals and contributes to the development, implementation, and maintenance of pharmacy policies and procedures. The manager works collaboratively with pharmacy operations and clinical leadership, Pharmacy Information Systems, physicians, nursing leadership, Supply Chain, Finance, and other institutional departments to optimize pharmacy systems and support patient-centered care and clinical pharmacy programs. The Pharmacy Operations Manager reports to the Director of Pharmacy Operations and collaborates with other members of the MGH and MGB Pharmacy Leadership teams to advance pharmacy practice, medication safety, operational excellence, and departmental and organizational goals.
