About The Position

The Pharmacy Manager, Pharmacy Practice & Operations is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing pharmacy operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving excellence in clinical practice. The role goes beyond the traditional Pharmacist in Charge by integrating operational execution, team leadership, and strategic alignment with organizational goals. This position is for a Retail Pharmacist looking for a change, potentially in a Mail order and Closed-Door Specialty Pharmacy setting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy, information technology, engineering, or related field; equivalent experience accepted.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in pharmacy operations, informatics, or automation systems management.
  • Proven success coordinating technology initiatives in a regulated pharmacy fulfillment environment.
  • Experience supporting pharmacy management systems (e.g., Epic, EnterpriseRx, PioneerRx, Parata, ScriptPro, or similar).
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Deep understanding of pharmacy workflows, dispensing systems, and automation technology.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills across technical and operational domains.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with data-driven decision-making mindset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, inventory systems, and reporting platforms.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple concurrent priorities.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills.

Nice To Haves

  • PharmD and licensure in Indiana preferred but not required.
  • Experience with automation, robotics, IVR, or warehouse systems integration in mail-order or specialty pharmacy settings.
  • Familiarity with HL7, SQL, API integrations, and reporting tools.
  • Project Management certification (PMP, Agile, or equivalent) or Pharmacy Informatics certification a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily pharmacy operations with a focus on safety, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including Board of Pharmacy requirements.
  • Serve as the designated Pharmacist in Charge (PIC), maintaining licensure and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize fulfillment workflows and inventory management.
  • Mentor and develop pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Implement and monitor quality assurance programs to ensure high standards of patient care and fulfillment accuracy.
  • Support strategic initiatives that enhance pharmacy services, operational scalability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Act as a liaison between pharmacy operations and corporate leadership, contributing insights and recommendations.
  • Establish and manage delivery services for all patients.
  • Develop and maintain clinical monitoring programs for all therapies, patients, and accreditation programs as appropriate.
  • Coordinate start of care with nurse/physician.
  • Participate with nurses and physicians in the development and revision of patient plans of care.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary patient care conferences.
  • Participate in the Strategic Improvement Plan (Performance Improvement Plan).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
