About The Position

Shields Health Solutions is seeking a highly motivated, self-starter who is looking for a challenging career with a fast-growing company in specialty pharmacy management services. Critical to this position is a person who is exceptionally reliable and can work independently and establish strong, credible relationships with patients, clinicians, and internal Shields staff. The role provides integrated support to patients and pharmacists with a hands-on approach to total quality patient care. You will work closely with patients to deliver a full continuum of medication adherence support using our tools and applications, encourage patients of specialty clinics to utilize pharmacy services for superior care, and seamlessly integrate with the clinic team (doctors, nurses, staff) as you’ll be located in one of the medical center clinics.

Requirements

  • Experienced pharmacy technicians; CPhT preferred but not required
  • Required 2 years as a Pharmacy Technician
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Strong interpersonal communication
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate good judgment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel & Word)
  • Quick learner of new software programs
  • Strong organizational/administrative skills
  • Organized, high-integrity, attention to detail
  • Dependable, quality-focused, empathetic
  • Good listener and communicator
  • Energetic, highly motivated, team player
  • Discretion and confidentiality essential
  • Solid computer skills are required, including proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) for communication, documentation, and data management, as well as, navigating the internet and web-based platforms.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred 3–5 years as a Pharmacy Technician
  • Knowledge of transplant, hepatitis C, infectious disease (including HIV), and/or oncology a plus

Responsibilities

  • Provide “legendary” care to hospital patients with custom medication management services
  • Work alongside hospital clinicians to serve patients face-to-face and over the phone
  • Educate prospective pharmacy patients on how hospital services improve care
  • Support outpatient retail and specialty prescription needs
  • Grow the specialty pharmacy’s patient population
  • Ensure patients stay on track with medication regimens (outbound check-ups, securing refills, etc.)
  • Communicate effectively with the centralized Patient Service Center regarding reports and lists
  • Help develop new processes for smooth operations and patient care
  • Identify medications requiring special storage (hazardous/refrigerated)
  • Identify necessary supplies (sharps containers, syringes, alcohol swabs, Band-Aids)
  • Answer, resolve, and triage inbound inquiries
  • Perform refill reminder calls under pharmacist supervision
  • Resolve insurance issues, assist with prior authorizations (PAs), and financial assistance
  • Ensure accurate documentation in all systems
  • Manage and update data using database applications
  • Apply observations to improve productivity, quality, and service standards
  • Identify trends, resolve problems, recommend improvements
  • Actively participate in process improvement initiatives
  • Act as a value-added business partner to stakeholders
  • Protect organization’s value by maintaining confidentiality
  • Update knowledge through education, publications, and networking
  • Willing to do whatever is necessary for the betterment of the Company
