About The Position

Sentara is hiring an Inpatient IV Pharmacy Technician at Martha Jefferson Hospital. This is a Part Time position (16 hrs/wk) with a Rotating/Primary Days shift, typically from 6am-3pm, but may require occasional evening and overnight coverage. The role involves performing technician responsibilities of clinical pharmacy care delivery under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner. The Pharmacy Tech II Clinical demonstrates advanced technical skills, ownership of the work area, and the ability to work independently in defined areas of pharmacy practice. They will assume responsibility for assigned tasks related to advanced clinical job positions, participate in training new employees, fill and deliver medications, ensure adequate supplies, triage and escalate issues, use appropriate systems for patient information, maintain quality assurance, operate pharmacy equipment, and participate in clinical initiatives. Training in an advanced Clinical Pharmacy Technician job function is included, and other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• A pharmacy technician license is required in the state of practice.
• Virginia Pharmacy Tech License (Required)
• CPhT License (Received through the NHA or PTCB (Required)
• High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
• 2 Years Pharmacy Experience (Required)

Nice To Haves

• 1 Year IV or Sterile Compounding Experience (Preferred)

Responsibilities

• Performs the technician responsibilities of clinical pharmacy care delivery under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner.
• Demonstrates advanced technical skills and ownership of the work area.
• Demonstrates the ability to work independently defined areas of pharmacy practice competently.
• Assumes local and/or system responsibility for assigned tasks related to advanced clinical job positions.
• Participates in the training of new employees.
• Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner.
• Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care.
• Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed.
• Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information.
• Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements.
• Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately.
• Participates in clinical initiatives to continuously improve patient care.
• Training in an advanced Clinical Pharmacy Technician job function.
