About The Position

Sentara is hiring an Inpatient IV Pharmacy Technician at Martha Jefferson Hospital. This is a Part Time position (16 hrs/wk) with a rotating shift, primarily days (6am-3pm), but may require occasional evening and overnight coverage. The Pharmacy Tech II Clinical performs the technician responsibilities of clinical pharmacy care delivery under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist or licensed independent practitioner. This role demonstrates advanced technical skills, ownership of the work area, and the ability to work independently in defined areas of pharmacy practice. The technician assumes responsibility for assigned tasks related to advanced clinical job positions, participates in training new employees, and ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care. They triage and escalate issues outside their scope, use appropriate systems for patient information, and maintain quality assurance according to departmental and legal requirements. The role also involves operating pharmacy equipment appropriately and participating in clinical initiatives to improve patient care. Additional duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
• Virginia Pharmacy Tech License (Required)
• CPhT License (Received through the NHA or PTCB (Required)
• 2 Years Pharmacy Experience (Required)

Nice To Haves

• 1 Year IV or Sterile Compounding Experience (Preferred)

Responsibilities

• Assumes local and/or system responsibility for assigned tasks related to advanced clinical job positions.
• Participates in the training of new employees.
• Fills and delivers medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist/licensed independent practitioner.
• Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care.
• Triages and escalates any questions or issues outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed.
• Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information.
• Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements.
• Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately.
• Participates in clinical initiatives to continuously improve patient care.
• Training in an advanced Clinical Pharmacy Technician job function.
