About The Position

The Pharmacy Inventory Specialist will work with the Pharmacy Supply Chain Manager to ensure appropriate inventory levels are maintained for all pharmacy areas and automation. The position will be responsible for communicating critical information, reviewing automation databases, and coordinating inventory quality control processes to support pharmacy dispensing practices.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician, PTCB or EXCPT required
  • Registered or eligible as pharmacy technician with Alabama Board of Pharmacy
  • Must maintain minimum of pharmacy technician competency
  • Must complete Apexus 340B University on Demand within 3 months of hire.

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Experience in inventory and purchasing preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assists with design, testing, implementation, maintenance and optimization of automated pharmacy systems at facilities. May be required to communicate with vendors to trouble-shoot technology, create/ interpret data sets and participate in audits.
  • Evaluates inventory levels and based on current usage reports and data analytics to set par levels for purchasing and to minimize medication waste.
  • Receives order to ensure separation of duties, matches purchase orders with packing slips, escalates packing slip/purchase order mismatches with distributors and manufacturers
  • Reviews monthly cycle counts in the central pharmacy carousels and the main campus and off-campus outpatient pharmacies, and participates in the annual inventory
  • Works with vendors to ensure medication and supply orders reach main campus outpatient and off-campus outpatient cost centers on time and complete, as needed.
  • Ensures all DSCSA track and trace rules are followed for transfer of inventory.
  • Assists with the drug recall process to ensure recalled products are removed from inventory and segregated. Enters recalled products in electronic system for tracking and proper return or destruction.
  • Maintains performance, patient and employee satisfaction and financial standards as outlined in the performance evaluation.
  • Performs compliance requirements as outlined in the Employee Handbook
  • Must adhere to the DCH Behavioral Standards including creating positive relationships with patients/families, co-workers, colleagues and with self.
  • Requires use of electronic mail, time and attendance software, learning management software and intranet.
  • Must adhere to all DCH Health System policies and procedures.
  • All other duties as assigned.
