Pharmacy Intern - Outpatient (Retail) Pharmacy
About The Position
Under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, a pharmacy intern in this role will interpret physician prescriptions and medication orders, serve as a drug information resource to patients and healthcare professionals, review patient profiles for potential drug interactions, and perform clinical interventions such as dosage recommendations. The intern will also administer immunizations, handle technical and clerical tasks related to medication management (ordering, packaging, control, distribution, and billing), conduct quality assurance, and prepare and dispense medications. This is a casual/PRN position located in outpatient/retail pharmacy settings in Ontario and Crestline, Ohio. Interns have the flexibility to work full or part-time during academic breaks and on intermittent weekend days throughout the year.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an accredited pharmacy program at a college or university
- Licensed as a Pharmacy Intern in good standing with the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy
Responsibilities
- Interpret physician prescriptions and medication orders
- Act as a drug information resource to patients, medical staff, nursing staff, and ancillary department personnel
- Review patient profiles for drug interactions
- Perform clinical interventions including dosage recommendations
- Administer immunizations
- Perform technical and clerical functions associated with the ordering, packaging, control, distribution, and billing of medications
- Perform quality assurance functions
- Prepare and dispense prescribed medications and other pharmaceuticals for patient care
