Retail Pharmacy intern
About The Position

The intern will fill prescriptions in accordance with all state and federal statutes and regulations under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. The position requires a fast work pace in a retail store setting, the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and adherence to company policies and regulatory procedures.
Requirements
- Must be 18+
- Six months or less of similar or related work experience
- Enrolled in accredited college of pharmacy
- Registered with State Pharmacy Board as an intern
- Ability to do logical or scientific thinking to solve problems; several abstract and concrete variables
- Ability to compose original correspondence
- Ability to follow technical manuals
- Increased contact with people
- Ability to interview, counsel or advise people
- Ability to evaluate technical data
- Ability to do arithmetic calculations involving arithmetic, algebraic and geometric calculations
- Ability to physically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects
- Visual requirements include clarity of vision at distances of more than 20 inches and less than 20 feet, and field of vision
- Fingering, grasping, feeling, repetitive motions, talking, hearing, lifting, stooping, and reaching
- Maintains the confidentiality of the customer’s private medical information according to the HIPAA act
- Maintains the confidentiality of prescription drug pricing and costs
Responsibilities
- Fills and helps process prescriptions
- Provides prompt and efficient service
- Assists with inventory control, maintaining inventory levels by ordering and stocking merchandise, checking invoices, and entering inventory information into the computer
- Works with co-workers as a team to ensure strict adherence to standard operating procedures and facility policies
- Prepares prescriptions
- Reports any medication errors to appropriate personnel
- Prepares and affixes labels to prescription containers
- Assists in training employees
- Assists with monthly inventory
- Follows security and regulatory procedures including Quality Assurance Programs
- Maintains cleanliness of pharmacy and dispensing area
- Maintains a professional appearance
- Adheres to company policies
- Reports to work when scheduled and on time
- Assists in other areas of the store as needed
- Performs other job related duties and special projects as required
