About The Position

Learn to provide the best patient experience by assisting the pharmacist and pharmacy team members in accordance with state and federal regulations. Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions while modeling and delivering a distinctive customer experience. Learn and champion pharmacy policies, procedures, and customer service practices in preparation for a future pharmacist role.

Under pharmacist supervision, assist with pharmacy practice and patient care within the state scope of practice for pharmacy interns. Perform assigned duties in accordance with company procedures, including prescription entry, third-party processing, filling, and dispensing. Support customers, pharmacy operations, inventory management, and department maintenance. Complete required training and maintain knowledge of healthcare and pharmacy developments.

Requirements

• Must be enrolled in a school of Pharmacy program.
• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English, except in Puerto Rico.
• Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist customers and patients with products and services; resolve issues and answer questions to support a positive experience.
• Model and share customer service practices, build strong customer relationships, and provide assistance until customer needs are met.
• Learn from store and pharmacy team members, field leadership, and customers or patients.
• Assist in the practice of pharmacy under pharmacist supervision and in accordance with state, federal, and company requirements.
• Review and comply with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
• Perform assigned prescription-entry, third-party-processing, filling, and dispensing duties according to Walgreens standard operating procedures.
• Assist pharmacists and other healthcare providers with patient care and services within the state scope of practice for pharmacy interns, including patient counseling and health services such as blood pressure checks and medication therapy management.
• Immediately report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and follow company error and Quality Improvement Program procedures.
• Follow the Walgreen Co. Good Faith Dispensing policy.
• Register sales on the assigned cash register and collect and handle cash as required.
• Help customers locate over-the-counter products when possible.
• Handle telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist's personal attention, including calls to physicians.
• Support pharmacy inventory activities, including ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments.
• Use company asset-protection techniques and file claims for warehouse overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged prescription drugs.
• Help maintain the Pharmacy Department by keeping it supplied, clean, neat, and orderly.
• Comply with company policies and procedures and maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.
• Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
• Complete required training and maintain knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including current news and developments.
